Default why wont anyone do an oil change on audi's???

ive called around to some of the local major chains in the milwaukee area (Scrub-a-dub, Valvoline, sears) and none of them are willing to do an oil change on my A6 even though i am supplying the filter and the oil. what gives??? do any of you know of any national oil change company that does do oil changes on audi's?? this is crazy, ive never had a situation like this before and ive owned 9 cars in 8 years.

Default Just go to an indie shop or DIY.

I would assume there is a local indie Audi/VW shop in your area or at least a german car specialist.

Default Do they give you an explanation? How about Wal-mart & jiffy lube?

On a side note, make sure you explain that they'll need to remove the belly pan to access the drain plug - also explain that it's not nearly as hard as it sounds :-)

More importantly: tell them to not "top up" ANY fluids. Put tape on the filler caps with the word "NO!" written on it. Their stuff will not be compatible with your A6.

I took my wife's A6 to Sears last time and had no problems. Cost me $15 (I supplied filter & oil). It was worth it to not have to dispose of the old oil.

I'd press these guys for a reason and keep calling, there is nothing special about the oil change.

from what i understand its quite a pain in the ***....there is some sort of shield over the bottom of the engine that makes the oil pan and oil filter inaccessable??? and i dont have a jack or a ramp.

Default The problem with those places are that it is not unusual

for them to mistake the tranny drain, for the oil drain, since the oil drain is so far forward. Cross threading or stripping the plug/oil pan is also pretty common. Search AW for plenty of horror stories.

Better to find an independent shop that knows Audis.

Default Because your bringing your own?

Those places are in business to sell oil and filters, not provide labor. Might simply be that their system or policies won't permit separate labor charges, or some arcane liability thing. Kind of like bringing your own raw burger to McD's and asking them to cook it. Have you asked them if they can provide the oil & filter you want?

well one place is giving me grief because "oh we have problems with those twin turbo audis" and another place said that they dont touch audi's because of some sort of shield under the engine that blocks access to the oil pan and filter? i dunno about that, ive never seen the underside of my car before
