why would brakes wear unevenly?

i replaced the front and rear pads and rotors at the same time...well, now I did a quick check and the rear pads seem to be 3/4 gone!
what could cause this uneven wear? also, the pad itself, seems to be worn at an angle instead of just flat. what's with that?

dragging caliper as A6sport suggested. IT's not unheard of for one side to get hung up. Also, while you're at it, amke sure the handbrake is adjusted properly - if the cable is too tight it could keep the rear brakes applied continuously (though hopefully you'd notice this).
