Re: For wife Audi A4 or Jaguar X-Type
I did a car clinic for Audi last year whee they put the A4 up against the X-Type, S60, C-Class, Alfa 156 and 3-Series.
IMO the A4 was the best of the cars there (although no driving was involved). It didn't necessarily excel in every detail, each car had its good points but overall it was the most complete.
The major criticism of the X-Type was that the interior felt very narrow and crampt. The A4 by comparison felt only slightly smaller than the A6. Also here in the UK to make the Jag feel like a Jag rather than a Ford you need to raid the options list, making it much more expensive than the A4

Since Ford bough the Jaguar, the quality of Jaguars is up.
I would be really suspissios of the cars with sub-Ford quality.
Plus Jaguar is a "pimp mobile". The target audience of the Jaguars are really wealthy people and they get really expencive Jaguars. I have problems understaning "compact/economy Jaguars". It is almost like "economy Bentley".
