Wife's friends daughter killed in SUV. Sad, why do people let kids drive these things...

Since anectdotal evidence seems fair game, I think we should outlaw Mazda 929's also. As I was driving down the freeway, the 929 tried to change lanes, realized a car was there already, overcorrected, lost control and went over on its side. Many injuries. No embankment, no hill, just flat Houston freeway. Honest to God.
Like someone said, learn to drive within a vehicle's, and your, limits.

if they actually allowed a new driver to use that vehicle. Most experienced drivers don't appreciate the limitations on SUVs, and regular driver training classes hardly touch on vehicle dynamics, so it's even less likely the an inexperienced driver would be aware of the risks. Higher center of gravity equals higher risk of rolling over. It's easy to intellectualize that, but hard to appreciate until it happens to you.
The program 5th Gear had a test of Range Rover. First they had one car follow another quite closely at medium speed. The car in front braked suddenly without warning, forcing the driver of the following sedan to dodge and brake to avoid the first car. No problems. The identical test with a Range Rover (fitted with safety gear) behind the lead car, resulted in a spectacular rollover. I don't think people appreciate how much extra room you need to drive an SUV safely.

Higher center of gravity = higher center of gravity. Laws of physics. Nothing will change that. May as well try to make water flow up hill ;-)
Sure, there are stability control devices on some of the latest SUVs, but they are trying to bandaid the issue. And if in some extreme cases the stability control doesn't let you make a manouver that although it will result in a crash, but will result in worse alternatives if the stability control is working, then watch the lawsuits fly. In any case, physics are physics. Tall object more tippy than low object.
