Will I be crazy to spend money lowering my ride height ?

When I get my 19" RS6 wheels soon, I think I might want to lower the car an inch or so. I don't want to go crazy and get coilovers, H&R's, sway bars and all the other things you guys love so much ;-) I just want a lowered ride height (or do I?). I want to keep a gap, that's why I'm only talking 20-25mm.
Will I only need different springs? I can't imagine a set of springs would set me back more than $100 or so. Am I way deluded ? Would it take my local indy more than an hour to install a set of new springs ?
I don't race (on a track), I don't take corners anywhere near "on the edge", or anything resembling pushing it hard, so I don't feel that I need the fancy stuff.
This RS6 pic below shows the kind of gap I'd be happy with. Below that (in my sig) is how my car is now, still on the 17"s. I'm not even sure if I need to lower it at all. Thoughts? Opinions? Comments about penguins?

new shocks/struts youll be set. there are many misconceptions about lowering springs vs coilovers etc, if you slam an a6 it's not going to handle as well as one dropped say 1.6-7 inches. the only cars that are real good to slam like that are civics, they have double wishbone suspension. as far as i know thats the deal with that, youre handling is going to improve dramatically with the lowering springs, and if you get a nice thick sway bar in the rear youll really be good to go.

That should tighten up your steering, as far as the looks, right now its awesome, with larger wheels it'll fill in more gap, dependent on yur wheels, which i assume will be 40-50
