Default Will taking my A6 with me to Europe be like bringing sand to Sahara..??

I am moving very soon to Europe and I'm thinking about bringing my '98 A6 2.8 Quattro with me. The requirements to have it registered there is that I have to replace the headlights with euro spec. lights and the odometer has to have km/h instead of mph as the primary scale.

The headlights I have found for around $900 each (Xenon), so that's not to bad. I'm hoping to be able to find some of those backplate thingies for the odometer that you just put on with some kind of adhesive.

Now, it would make sense to try and sell my US spec. headlights here before I go. Does a market for used A6 headlights exist ??

Any advise on doing this ?

Default Where are you going and what will your status be?....

...different countries have different requirement and exemptions (Germany, for one, doesn't require headlight changes as long as the height is adjustable).

Let me know and I'll delve into my old braincells.....

Default I bet there's more to it than that

There are usually different standards for bumpers, window glass, door beams, etc. But perhaps the US standards are higher so you might be OK.

Easiest thing would be to sell the car here and get something over there we can't get (Renault, Peuguot, A3, Alfa, Fiat, etc. etc.)

Default Maybe there is. I just don't want to sell my A6...I love that car :o)

I have owned some of the other cars you mention when I lived there before, but nothing compares to the quality of Audi.

Default National Highway Traffic Safety Administration....

The folks that say what we can sell here. They have stuff on all the countries and are only a one minute walk down the hall for me.

I suspect that Sweden is no different from Germany since German grey market cars are all over Sweden. I assume that you are going with a private company and not govt. sponsored.
