Default Wind Noise

I just bought a 2.7T Trip. It has much more wind noise than I expected. Is this normal or should I expect that the wind noise level can be reduced by the dealer (bad weather stripping or something like that) when I take it in for it's first check up at 5000 miles?

If your dealer can't do anything,
you could get Dynomat(I think thats what it is called, check crutchfeild) installed. It goes in your door panels, under your carpet, etc. Basicly adds extra sound proofing to the inside of your car, and makes music sound clearer and road noise much softer.

I have found wind noise fairly low and pretty constant from 80 MPH to over 120 MPH. Is the wind noise obtrusive? What car did you drive previously?

Default Check that driver's window (especially) is rolling all the way up...

There's a TSB which perfectly describes my window behavior - which I first noticed as a marked increase in wind noise. It will now fail about 3/4 way up, but the original condition that caught my attention was caused by rolling probably 99% up. Took close inspection of the glass to realize it was not fitting behind the weatherstrip.

Default Not a problem in my 2.7T.

It's in line with my previous ES300, and the '92 Legend before that. Both of which were quiet cars. I think I remember some poster(s) having success reducing wind noise associated with side view mirrors in some posts 6-8 months ago. Welcome! Sorry for this problem. Hope they can correct it to your satisfaction.

Drove a 96 LHS and it doesn't seem much better. I was in a rental mustang a few days ago and the wind noise is comparable to that - I would expect it be much quieter than a mustang.

Default I've been uphappy with the wind noise in my A6 2.7T since day 1. It seems to emanate ...

from the windshield area although I can't tell for sure. It also seems to vary a lot with the windiness/cross-windiness outside, almost as if I'm simly hearing the buffeting of cross-winds. Still, the degee of noise when it's there (which is far too much of the time as far as I'm concerned) is too much / too loud for a car of this caliber/cost. It's hard to hear your passenger's conversation or enjoy the radio/CD over the noise that I'm describing.

I've had two different dealers look at the problem. Both have tried the obvious things (checking door/window seals) and have claimed that my noise level was about on par for this car. However, I'm still not satisfied. Too much wind noise (at speed) is the one major gripe that I have with my car. Otherwise, I'm generally pleased.

So, if you find a miraculous cure/fix for this problem, please post your results for the benefit of other "suffering slobs" like me.

Sorry to hear that but there is something wrong. I can hear my radio just fine at 120MPH.
