I am planning on getting dark window tinting for my Avant. I also have self dimming mirrors on my car. Will the tinting affect the operation of the self dimming mirrors? For those that have tinting and auto dimming mirrors, have you noticed any difference in dimming with the tinting in place? Also, is there a brand of window tint considered better than the rest?

effect on the dimming mirrors. I have a light tint (35%) that noticably keeps the interior cooler but does not seem to have a noticable effect on the dimming mirrors or my V1.

The wierd thing I have experienced is that the tint from the inside isn't as dark as from the outside. This most likely occurs because of light source, etc, and I think this may be the reason the systems aren't affected, however, the am radio signal, depending on your location, may depreciate.

I had "medium" Llumar tint installed in North Chicago by the Last Detail for $250 on my A6 sedan .The benefit is the dark interior is MUCH cooler when left in the sun.

it is on all windows except the front. No degradation on AM (go Mariners) but a slight degradation (butt gauge sez 15 -20%) on rear performance of my V1. My self dimming mirrors still work well and in fact better for me because they do not get as dark as they did w/o the tint. I felt they got way too dark w/o the tint. No 1800 number but the company is located in Carson, CA at 310-631-6672 and many tinting companies carry them.
