windshield crack

today i noticed a 5" fine crack in my windshield that starts at the base of the window below the wiper and heads straight up.
there is no rock damage or starburst or anything like that..it appears to have happened all on it's own. also, i am the only one that drives the car and there have been no issues such as rock or debrit hitting the car...
does anyone think that i have a legit beef with audi for a warranty replacement? or does a cracked windshield autmatically = out of luck?

...I bought it. The dealer agreed to replace it before I bought it. Mine was just a "stress" crack up the passenger side. Sounds the same as yours!!
Beat on the dealer a bit. Good Luck!!

person who can help you, not anyone here. At best you might find several other people with the same problem - try search. That might help if you are turned down for a free fix at the dealer. However, I don't remember too many self-destructing windshields in the two years I have been on the board though.

i too have been using this board for more than two years and i feel that my post was very reasonable. It will help me understand BEFORE i go to the dealer if i have a leverageable position or not.
If my post is not appropriate than neither are the majority of posts on this board....anytime someone asks about a tbb, mods, "look what happened to my car" pic posts, wheel fitting questions, chips, tire brands, et al. It's all been said before in some way or another.
My advice is that you worry about your own posts and less about mine. Maybe you can run a search for "moron".

I am merely suggesting you talk to your dealer to get their reaction rather than getting fairly useless guesses about that reaction here. Being non-confrontational with the service guys at the start will get you a lot further. If you have been around for two years you already realize you have an uncommon problem.
Excuse me for responding to your original post with a suggestion on how I would handle the problem. I hope you don't jump to the "moron" stage as quickly with the dealer. I am not sure what I said to warrant that response.
Sorry I apparently rubbed you the wrong way. I will be gone for a few days, so can't respond further. Good luck with your windshield.
