Default I've had a 2000 2.7t and a 2001 2.7t

The 2000 was pretty bad the 2001 is no problem at all. Even the 2000 was not much worse than my 97 740il. I think that German cars are just not as reliable as the best Japanese cars. Maybe there is more stuff on a 740il or 2.7t than on an Acura Integra or Lexus RX-300 so I just think the Japanese cars are more reliable (less to break so fewer problems)

Default I've put nearly 20K on my S6

Nary a hitch. One RSOD from the radio and that's about it.

Mechanically this has been a very sound car so far. LMGotts is right you will hear more moans than cheers here typically ( as you will on just about any other discussion board. )

With the 4.2/3.0 you don't have any turbo worries, but I think Audi took care of most of those issues with the 2001+ on builds.

Get the A6, with the sport suspension. You'll enjoy it.

Default My '02 4.2 has been wonderful with little problem except...

the wipers which I think are the only part of my car I am dissapointed with. If you can, get the 4.2!

Yup. A couple of feet, I think, here in southeastern MA and my 4.2 with Dunlop Sport snows went through everything.

Thanks for everybodies encouragement. All I needed was a little reassurance to go forward. Now comes the fun part, one more look at available cars, and then picking the one. It seems like there have been slightly more probs with the 2.7t than the 4.2. See ya soon with the new car.

Again thanks for everybodies help.

Default Very Funny

That's a very funny response. I agree with you, Japanese vehicles are bland and lack character. The two advantages they have over domestic vehicles is their reliability and this sophistication. Unfortunately domestic vehicles lack sophistication, reliability, styling and character. The only American vehicle I drive is a Corvette. Other than that, I'd never purchase another domestic vehicle, minus a Cadillac Escalade.

BTW: What are your experiences with French vehicles?
