Would you have bought an Audi if you didn't need Quattro - like live in SF Bay Area like me?

Default Need? Really, any of us could get by with a Yugo. But if Audi didn't have Quattro, I be driving...

...something with better balance, something RWD that has half a fighting chance at understeer.

Like most people here, you don't need Quattro in SF, but Quattro sure is nice have in the rain.

Default It's helped me out a few times when I've taken a corner too fast.

Hitting the gas instead of the brake and getting bailed out of corner that I probably would have crashed in a RWD vehicle.

Oh yeah not denying the push/understeer that is typical from most Audi's.

Default The road car came second

I started with Audi's with rallying. It was years ago before John Buffum was even driving the TR8. Once I saw the Audi it was love at first sight. It was only a matter of time before I had one.

Once I got the first rally car I became so familiar with working on them it was a natural progression. By the time you buy all the diagnostic equipment, tools it makes sense. Plus you just get used to how they're built and what to expect.

Where I live Quattro is very nice. I also have a Dodge 4wd truck and whatever I drive has to have 4wd. We get enough snow and bad weather that you'd be crazy not to.

Yes, Virginia, there is oversteer. Even if most Audi drivers think it's just a myth. ;-)

Much as I love them, if I didn't live in the snow belt, I probably wouldn't own an Audi. RWD FTW.
