wrong ECT sensor location

wrong ECT sensor location
After following the instructions on this board, I tried to replace the ECT sensor on my 99 A6 avant but it wasn't where the posts said. there's no room for anything between the accordian hose.
I found it in the front left of the engine in the lower radiator hose. Is it possible that it's in two locations?

My dealer screwed up
The part in the front is a thermoswitch (probably for the fan) My dealer sold me some part that has the same sensor end as the ECT sensor and the same connector as the fan switch.
It is part number 059-919-501 B.
The ECT sensor I took out of my car is 078-919-501 B. It has a totally different connector.
The thermoswith is 800-959-481 B.
God only knows what the part the dealer gave me is for.
