Zimmerman Rotors a no-go on 2.8?

I've researched this site on rotors since my stock pads and rotors are shot and Audi wants to charge me $1200 for new ones.
I was all set to get the zimmerman rotors with mintex pads installed by AWE when they told me the Zimmerman rotors won't work. Here is a copy of their email:
In addition, it seems that there was some confusion on our part regarding fitment of rotors on the A6 2.8. There are 4 different rotors
and calipers used on this 98 and later A6, which makes fitment a nightmare (Zimmerman application guide was wrong). We have pulled the
Zimmerman rotors as a possible part for the A6 2.8 consequently.
Is this information true? And if so, can anyone make a recommendation on a good non-track use brake rotor and pad?

...trunk is the best way to tell the difference. I wrote about this before but don't have the information in front of me at the moment; check the archives.
I suppose the '98 Avants also have a third rotor since those are really C4's. Then the forth rotor would be the ones used on the 2.7/4.2.

At worst you would have to measure the diameter of your current rotor. I *think* all '98 sedans have 288mm rotor...measure to make sure!!

Clicky!
