"Replace Brake Pads" message on 2007 S6 with 14K miles?
I just had this "warning" come on this weekend. My S6 is about 18 months old but only has 14K miles (I know...I need to drive it more).
That seems really fast to me. On my previous 2004 C5 4.2 the pads didn't "need" replacement for almost 30k miles. I live and work in the same place and my driving habits haven't changed.
Does that seem way too short a life for front pads (I assume it is only the fronts that need to be replaced)? My SA at the dealer (taking it in today) says it "may" also need rotors..which seems incredible.
Also, I had the AudiCare maintenance package included in my deal. I don't suppose that covers pads the way the old Audi Advantage did, right?
All that said....I still LOVE my car.

The Audi Care maintenance plan that I have excludes pads, among other things.
This was the $550 plan that was offered to "replace" the old Audi Advantage, but it excludes most wear items and just covers scheduled maintenance. I heard somewhere that Audi would cover pads if within 12 months/12K miles so I may try to get them covered that way this time.

I really don't think so. I drove my 2 prior C5s the same way. Update- $850 for rotors/pads!!
As I feared, the SA called this morning to tell me that the S6 needed front rotors as well and that the job would cost $850. Rear pads/rotors are "fine".
I'm an aggressive enough driver on the rare occasion that I get to drive the "twisties" in this car...but that is very rare (unfortunately). I told the SA that the "gone but not forgotten" Audi Advantage was a big reason I returned to Audi in 2000. (That and an unbeatable deal at the time!). It's a major reason that my wife gets BMWs now (BMW's similar program). I lease my cars and love the idea that I KNOW what this car will cost over the term of the 3 year lease.
In this case, it appears that I will probably have to replace the fronts again before the end of the lease and the rears will probably go in that time as well. I love my car....but Audi is testing my devotion!

I knew that going in. They knocked 25% of the $850 quote but....
I figure that quote was inflated anyway.
I'm pretty disappointed that the pads/rotors need replacement this quickly, especially since it means I will probably have to do them again prior to lease end (1/2010). I really don't feel like I was that hard on them.
