Default 06 NAV system

Starting to figure out my new to me 06 A6 3.2q. How do I get/install the navigation since that wasn't installed as an option when the car was new. Was that offered as a pay/term service or do I order the dvd's from the dealership? Any aftermarket alternatives that use the OE screen?
Thanks,
Rob.

Hi Rob-

It's not that bad to install, especially if you don't tie into the shark fin.
About $1,700 all in.

You can get the DVD from the dealer or from NAVTEQ.

None that I know of.
If you had a carputer or something with video out you could use a MOST attached video device.
That would require an FBAS enabled module though - e.g. backup camera already installed.

Hope that helps. -Jake

Is AudiUSAParts.com reliable? Whatever I order, they are all OEM?

Absolutely 200% top notch and their prices beat just about everybody.

They are an Audi dealer in Oregon, all OEM.

Loree and Jake over there are always great.
I buy from them pretty regularly for the A8 and just ordered a tail light insert for the A6.

I did a DIY on the NAv system - its not that hard, took the two of us a full day since it was the first time.

Bought the kit from ebay - about $1400 and came with instructions. The DVD player and wires are all that is required. Kufatec has the wires for 99 euros I believe.. and you can look around for the DVD on ebay etc.

Thanks for the input. I don't have a problem with a portable unit. That's what I have in my A4. Just wanted to learn about what it would take to have the factory nav working.

-I too was looking for an OE Navigation Unit for my 08 3.2q. Did anyone tried to install the Kufatec Nav Bundle yet? Was it really uncomplicated install? -thanks!

Its very easy to install, I did this by myself in less than 2 hours, including removing and installing all trim pieces. As far as I know, all C6 A6 models in the US have the GPS antenna built in and can be accessed via rear A pillar.
The only thing you have to be careful about is when working with the fiber optic cables, as the slightest bend would render them unusable.

I didn't have the $2000 option from factory, but for $550 I got everything, DVD Unit, cables, and 09 OEM DVD Maps.
