I beg to differ. The manual clearly says this:

Vehicles with Electronic Stabilization Program (ESP), bleeding procedure
Bleeding sequence for left and right hand drive vehicles:
1 - Left front brake caliper
2 - Right front brake caliper
3 - Left rear brake caliper
4 - Right rear brake caliper
This sequence is not for bleeding the ESP system. It is for bleeding vehicles equipped with the ESP system. The manual does not say anything about cars without ESP which means ESP must have been a standard feature on all Audi vehicles by then.

I used to bleed the other way around until I posted the video below and someone pointed out that the manual says otherwise. I looked it up and he was right!
