I recently purchased this A6. The previous owner had said that he pulled too far forward on a tall curb and when he reversed it caused some bumper damage. I did see a small crack and gap on one side before I bought the car and it was no big deal. I looked into getting the bumper lined up better today and found where the section of the bumper that goes under the car is torn up but I managed to get things lined up pretty well. I did see that the the 3 bolt holes on the underside of the bumper stop about 6 inches short of the holes on the bottom of the car. Everything else looks lined up. Is there supposed to be another piece that goes between the mounting holes and the holes on the bumper? I cannot imagine that things are so out of line that these holes are supposed to line up while everything else looks fine.
