Extended warranties are nice but not for me. I'm DIY, know enough pro mechanics to not trust them at work. It's cost me ~$140 in parts and my time but I enjoy turning wrenches on cars as a hobby. That's a big step down from $1200. Glad to hear your car is back to it's old self though.

I'm very handy with a wrench and it took 4.5 hours, mine was a 3.2 V6, the V8 should be similar but with less room to work. You have to remove the serpentine belt, then the alternator. Support the engine and trans and fron cross member. You have to pull the mount bracket for the front cross member off, then unbolt the mount bracket from the motor, then unbolt the motor mount itself, don't forget to unplug the electrical connection. Pull the motor mount and bracket out of the car as a unit, there's little to no room. Disassemble the old, and put the bracket on the new mount and reverse the process... It doesn't require any special tools but if you don't wrench on cars reqularly I don't recommend trying this.
The factory manual says to remove the motor and transmission from the car as a unit to change the motor mount.
