Default 2006 3.2 Avant electrical

Got a phone call from my dad while I was at work. He was at a meeting out of town and had taken their 2006 3.2 Avant. He went to leave to head back home, and it wouldn't start, no bad fuses, doors lock/unlock from the key fob, tailgate opens/closes from the key fob and switches. MMI/radio turns on, clock and odo turn on with the door. Key in the ignition, turn to run position, nothing happens. Turn to the start position, nothing happens. No gauge activity, nothing. Shifter will not leave park, e-brakes locked down, etc. Every once in a while I'll get the park brake light to come on/off on the dash, but they were still locked down. Car ended up being towed via flatbed (that was interesting, it involved oiling up the deck of the flatbed since the rear tires wouldn't roll). I ended up taking a quick look at it, there is essentially no key-on power. Is there a relay or module that is a known issue on these?

Possibly the battery has died. Check the MMI/Car to see what it shows the battery strengh is.

I had thought that, and connected my '98 A6 to it directly at the battery posts and ran the idle up, no change with the '06, even then left it connected up for a good 15 minutes. The '06's battery is only a few months old.

Have you looked at this as a possible cure, it sounds similar to the thread here:

My dad found that online this afternoon while I was at work. We are going to give that a shot when I get a chance to take my laptop and VCDS over to the car.
