Hey Everyone
I have a 2006 A6 4.2L (still under manufactures original warranty) and love the car, I bought it a year ago as a CPO car, ever since i purchased it something has been really bothering me. There are a whole bunch of scratches on the center wood console (where the gear shifter and MMI **** is located). I wanted to see if anyone has been able to get this replaced under warranty. I asked one dealer and they said no, but have heard different dealers and what they can recover and do under warranty is different. The bottom line is the quality of this center console isn't up to what I consider Audi Standards... Wanted to get your thoughts about getting this replaced under warranty

Unless the scratches are completely through the clear coat, you should be able to buff them out with plastic polish and a dremel.
If they are really bad, start with rubbing compound then finish with plastic polish.
I had the same thing, did the above, and the console now looks new.

IIRC, I just used the turtle wax brand stuff.
Keep in mind that rubbing compound will cut quite quickly, so don't be too aggressive with it. I would recommend trying to use only Zaino or other polish first to see if that accomplishes the task before moving on to compound.
The good news is, unless the scratch is down to the wood, if you work slowly and carefully you can restore it to original condition.
