A8 L Sport 20

...anyone experiencing occasional rough down shifting or change of gears in traffic? It clunks around a lot for a new car. My 2000 A6 4.2 did the same thing its whole life without any transmission faults, but it is annoying.

The shift from second to first (esp. at a rolling stop) can clunk and be quite annoying.

like the transmission could software could use quite a bit of optimizing.

None of this this affects my '06 3.2 L. Trans is amazingly good.

I have had the same problem, After much fighting and performing, audi replaced the air mass meter in my 4.2 and since then the gearbox is much better... by the way .. also went the route of contacting zf the makers fo the gearbox... but this was not the issue.... due to the electronics the air mass meter was the problem.....
