Sales tax in CA is 9.75% and fees are basically licensing, registraion, etc add up to like 300ish. Sales tax is a bitch in CA...

I've been doing some research and I've heard about that...yea they have to throw that in because I can't drop another $1000 on top of the 17. Thanks for the heads up everyone.

I assume it's not certified...

Even so, kinda bums me out. I paid $33k for my certified '07 with 50k less than a year ago. I hope they aren't depreciating that fast everywhere!

Another thing that kills us in CA is the registration fee. Make sure they don't charge you for unnecessary registration and license. All you should pay is like $25 for DMV transfer fee. If you're lucky, you might have several months of paid registration left. When I bought mine last September, the registration was already paid for until March of 2011. The dealer was writing up the paperwork with $500 of new registration. When I told him I'm only paying the transfer fee, he was baffled... "you're going to pay that sooner or later so why not pay now?"... Ummm because I save $250 by not double paying? And he was a finance guy. Go figure.

I think the depreciation will kick in more once MY 2012 is released. However, you have an Avant and that could retain more value than the sedans since they're rare. I think your purchase price reflects that fact because I bought my 2009 Prestige Sedan with only 12K miles for $36K (not certified) last year. The only problem with wagons is that dealers will never recognize them as more valuable than sedans. You will have to sell it on your own to really get the extra value. I know because I had MB E-class wagon between my 2006 and 2009 A6. Bottom line, forget about the depreciation and just enjoy your great car!

By certified do you mean with warranty? If so then yes its not certified like that.

Judging by the semi depressing tone in your post I assume you think this is a good deal? Also like the guy above me said, enjoy you great car!

There's a 276 dollar DMV fee...so you're saying it should be 25ish if the registration is valid for a while? Thanks for the heads up

Hmm thoseinks aren't working on my cell browser. I'll have to check it when I'm home.

Can someone give me a quick rundown. I'm calling the dealer in 30 min to negotiate.
