Hello, brand new here.
I always loved the way audis look and feel, so I recently bought myself a 2006 Audi a6.
The only problem is on the auction it was diagnosed with a bad map sensor. So the check engine light is on, but only the map sensor is the problem.
So yesterday my mechanic ordered a new map sensor, installed it, cleared the check engine light. Then we drove it for a few miles to see if everything is okay before putting it up for inspection.
But the check engine light came back on.
So my question is, do we need to program anything after installing the new map sensor? When we called the audi dealer they said we gotta replace the whole system(that has to do with the map sensor) problem is that system is worth $500.
Any tips?
Thanks.

Ok you replaced MAP sensor, check.
The check engine is back, check.
Have you checked for vacuum leaks? A vacuum leak will set off the check engine light.
Check the vacuum line closes to MAP sensor. If I was you check all the vacuum line for leaks.
There a posting around here with info where to look for the leaks.
If you find a leak and repair it would recommend cleaning the throttle body.
Reason the vacuum lines leak is cause the engine bay gets hot and drys out the line and they crack. You maybe not notice the leak but with high rpm the leak will be noticeable.
So good luck and kept us posted.

Read this thread to educate yourself.

And then, you need to clean your throttle body and do this throttle body alignment:
