2007 A6

Re: 2007 A6
I believe the car is prewired for nav. I just added a nav system to my 06 A6. Pretty easy and straight forward install. You just need to connect a antenna wire to the antenna lead in the driver side rear pillar, which involves dropping the rear cover for the high mount stop light, then opening up the cover of the driver side rear pillar. That's about the only work done inside the cabin. Everything else is done in the trunk area. You will need to install the DVD player, some plug and play wire harnesses and run a line to the fuse box in the passenger side of the trunk.
Tool wise, you will need a 10MM bit, a #6 (I think) hex bit, a 1/4" rachet with extension, a utility blade, some electric tape, and a small flat blade screw driver. Optional accessory are some of those plastic wire cover things. Install time is about an hour.
I got my kit off of ebay, the seller's name is Kevin, he's great with service pre and post sales. It comes with everything, except the latest, version 9, nav disk, which is extra. Otherwise the system comes with the factory version, I think it was version 7 for my 06.
Hope this helps,
Mike

Re: 2007 A6
Thanks for the reply. I have the shark fin on the car already. Would you know if my voice button on the steering wheel will become actived when the nav is installed? I would love to have this feature when using the cell phone thru the bluetooth.

I didn't activate the voice button when I installed the Nav. I personally don't really care for the feature, had it in my GMC Acadia's phone feature thru Onstar, wasn't too impressed. The Audi system may be a whole lot better but I don't find it too difficult or distracting to bring up the numbers thru the MMI. I think voice Tags are what they sound like, voice tags you create and assign to number entries, i.e. instead of saying dial xxx-xxx-xxxx, you say call "Dave Mobile" or "Dave Home", etc. At least that is what Onstar's definition of the term is.
