Well, ever since the lease terminated on my original 2006 3.2Q, I've been itching to get back into another A6. I decided it will be a 4.2Q CPO this time. My confusion is that prices seem to vary quite a bit between CPO vehicles. I'm in Southern California and a LA dealer just listed 2007 4.2Q S-Line tech with 29,000 for $42,000. This seems way too high for me. I'm looking for suggestion on what would be a fair price to offer for this vehicle. Thanks for your input!

Seems a little high to me. I got my 2006 4.2 S-line CPO with 21,000 miles from University Audi in Seattle for $29k. They had a 36k or 37k asking price, but they worked with me and the negative equity I had on my A4 I was trading in. 42k seems way too much.

I think CPO’s are overrated. You are buying an insurance policy from a car dealer. I have had them take the CPO off a car I wanted to buy and it saved me 3K off the price before we started negotiating the final price. Every situation is different. I am able to get all my parts and service done for about a 75% discount thru my business so a warranty had no appeal to me at all. I check the service history of the car to make sure there are no lingering problems and then take care of fixing something using an auto repair shop with experience with the type of car I am buying. If a warranty is that important then you can buy one form one of the many companies that sell them. The bottom line is a dealer is not going to certify a car that has problems. So have them take the certification off an save your money.

^ I disagree. I don't have the mechanic connection nor the free money to pay for repairs. My CPO kicked in last week and I lost some coil packs and 2 sensors a few days ago. Free flat bed to the dealer, and a $50 deductible was all it cost me because the CPO warranty covered everything. If I had the choice, I'd CPO all the way.

The car is worth what the blue book has on it plus or minus it's history..if it doesn't have a stellar paper trail..bye bye, find one that has all service records.
