Recently, there has been a popping noise coming from the drivers side door that after 2 dealer visits, they can't fix. The first visit the dealer lubed the door hinge but as soon as I pulled out of their driveway, the noise started again. Its not a constant noise but happens over bumps or undulations (big & small) in the road--almost like the body or door panel is flexing. The 2nd visit the dealer didn't even take the door panel off to see if something was loose. It does appear to occur more when its hot but it happens cold too. The first loaner I had from the dealer made the same noise only less frequently; the 2nd loaner did not make the noise at all (it had more mile than my car).
1. Any one else have this issue & has it been fixed?
2. How do I get the door panel off without breaking fasteners, etc?

it's my right/rear panel. Seems to come from the door pull area.
I just give it a push once and a while, which seems to do the trick
This is a common issue with many cars, and I doubt a dealer really can do anything concrete about it.

Just read pierreb's sig, which has a TSB (51 06 01 Oct, 2006, 2012964/1).
This may be the problem - certainly is for me.

Thanks for your help in finding the TSB's. As per the other responses, no way this is acceptable on a $63,000 car PERIOD!

One of te worst rattle traps I've been in was a brand new, current generation, Mercedes S class. Sitting the back seat, I even could see the empty front passenger seat vibrate! My wife thinks I'm crazy b/c I hear all kinds of racket she simply ignores. That said, loud cracks or popping sounds are unusual.

I had a 2006 A6 with this same problem. Dealer had car for over a month. They could not find what it was. They took the whole front end apart and I mean everything. After giving my car back my car was never the same. I had numerous leaks when it rained. My dash had slices in it. A pillar was falling off. Headliner feel down. It was a nightmare. I contacted Audi of America and eventually got them to replace it with a 2007. They later told me my car was sent to the factpry for reasarch and they eventually diagnosed the problem. I forget exactly what they told me it was something to do with supports and the needed to be rebolted or something. Never the less my 07 does it also, but I am just dealing with it. I dont want to go through it all again. They told me there is a fix for it now, but im not taking any chances. It can be annoying at times. Good luck with it all.

Thanks for your reply. Can you get me the dealer name so mine can contact them if they have to? There is no way this noise should be happening or unrepairable.
