The 08 A6 FWD get 18 city and 27 highway and the 08 AWD is 17/25. The FWD version only comes with a Continuously variable transmission. Now to throw a wrench into your car shopping, the 09 A6 with the 3.0 Liter supercharged engine gets 45 more HP than the 08 and 67 ft-lbs of torque more, yet it gets better gas milage than the 08 3.2L A6. The 09 A6 gets 18 MPG city and 26 MPG highway.
PS. If you really want to rub it in, tell your wife that Volvo is now owned by a India car company

I'm trying to stick with the '08s for the sake of my goal of staying under $25,000. Dunno if I can work this local dealer down to that price but that is the goal. That '09 would be a SOLID choice if I did not have to stay around $25K.

LOL! Indian car co?! I thought Ford was snapped up by Volvo? Either way it's funny, disappointing as well. The Volvo S80 interior sweaked like a mouse was running between the front seats. It reminded me that the interior was NOT luxury.

The KBB suggest price for a 08 A6 AWD is about $31000, if you can get it for $25000, you are doing good.
Good Luck

I offered dealer just under $25 for a Quattro. We'll see if he bites. I doubt they will. I expect they'll want me back for more "hand to hand" combat, aka negotiations, before we settle. I have to say I expected it to be a closer call between Audi and Volvo. I am real glad I did my homework. Thanks for the insights here. You guys are solid.
