Default 2007 Audi A6 4.2 Price

Hello - just looked at a certified 2007 Audi A6 4.2 with 26,500 miles on it, that the Audi dealership will sell for 35,500. Also will include the next two services too. Car has technology, navigation and cold weather package on it. Would this be a good deal or can I do better and buy how much? Really love the car. Having been comparing it to the BMW 535xi and think I like this better.

Also, would I expect to average about 20 miles per gallon with mostly freeway driving? Thanks!

Yes, with mostly freeway driving you'll average above 20mpg. Not sure if that's a good deal or not.

Default You can do way better. I have the average October PA auction prices and they are way down.

Prices are in the mid to upper twenties, sad to say. The economic slowdown has killed this market and now is a great time to buy. Same range for the BMW. Certified pre owned costs about $1800 for the dealer so you can do way better.
My advice is to talk to a dealer that will take you to the auction, you buy it and give him say $1K for the auction service and then add in the cerfification. Or just buy an extended warranty or don't, these are great cars.

Default I doubt my dealer would be nice enough to do that. Thanks for the good information though......

So, for a 2007 or great 4.2 A6 with 28,000 or less miles, I could get mid to upper 20's?? That would be a real bargain.

Are you seeing BMW 535xi's at auctions too? I think I really prefer the 4.2 Audi though.

Default Sure all kinds of cars show up coming off leases at auctions. Try the A8.

Find any dealer that deals with higher-end Euro cars and make the owner the offer. Most guys would love to make a quick $1K guaranteed to flip a car. Since you were ready to buy the A6 for mid $30K, why not consider the A8? Average 2006 is going for low $30K and 2007 for mid $30s. Again, very sad to say but a whole lot of car for the money. These are $75K cars going for 50% in a few years.
I know a guy that buys at auctions, sells online and ships nationwide, and even overseas.
I bet some dealers on this forum could do this for you.

Default Check with Bruce M....

Bruce Mendel (normally hangs on the D2 and allroad boards) frequents the auctions and could possibly help you. Drop him a line (brucem105@comcast.net). He's located cars and written extended warranty coverage for a number of AW members.

Default Definately better than 20mpg

Own an '05 A6 4.2 without FSI with 36K miles

Average fuel economy per on board computer is 25~27mpg.

Mostly drive 30% local (30~50mph) and 70% highway (55mph~75mph).

Keep hitting the gas aggressively and you will get around 19~20mpg, Smooth out the gas conservatively and will get around 25~27mpg.

This is all per on board computer which is known to give 10%~15% boosted readings.

I usually fill-up on a low fuel light, fill up about 18~19 gallons and will get a little less than 500 miles per tank (460~480miles).

MPGs on the A6 4.2 is much better than expectations.
