buying A6 avant this week
the audi rack system too narrow to easily hold my sons 44" wide sailboat

anybody have experience with other manufacturers of racks specifically for the 2008 model wagon???

thule web site states they dont make anything that fits


but maybe in UK? or germany ?

You can't get anything from Thule or Yakima in the US. You would have to import the cross bars and feet from Europe. Initially I considered it last year, but eventually thought better of it and just bought the OEM stuff because I didn't want to schlep that stuff back with me from vacation.

I am happy to report that thule does make the rack system that fits the avant - i had to order it from england as not available in usa - used roofrackshop.com - about 80.00 to deliver - came in just a few days, good experience with that vendor. fyi if u wanna save money maybe get the bars in usa and order the brackets from uk - that would be much cheaper to ship.

installed it and is perfect for what i need.
