I went looking for a used 4.2 and came home with a new 2008 4.2.
Sticker was over $60k. Loaded except for sports package which I really wanted, but the price was just too good to refuse.
Car had 350 miles and purchased it for $40k, basically a 33% discount. I'm guessing that 4.2s are not hot sellers with the supercharges 3.0 out there now.
Anybody know where I can get a good deal on sport seats and which suspension to look at? Located in Dallas, TX.

I am looking at 2 similar vehicles:
- 2009 3.0 supercharged prestige, 1123mi; MSRP $57k, dealer asking $49k
- 2008 4.2 fully loaded, 20mi; MSRP $59k; dealer asking $46k
*both prices are initial dealer listing with no negotiation
Decisions, decisions. The warranty has started ticking on the '09. Both are colors I like. All things being equal I like the supercharged '09, however I need to do some more research on the 1k+ mi on the car (supposedly previously owned and they went for another model and not a demo). Also it seems like the '08 may be more negotiable. I am thinking of trading my '04 allroad rather than dealing with selling it independently, so I would have to see who would offer a better a trade.
Both vehicles are several hours away so I would like to negotiate remotely a bit and then close the deal on site.
Which would you go with? Both are beautiful vehicles.

I just bought a 08 A6 4.2. It sat on the dealers lot since 10/08. Sticker was 61.5, I paid 48. I felt it was a great price for a great car. My warranty was punched 2 months before I bought it. Not concerned as I am likely to go through the miles before the time. I am also considering an extended warranty.
