Default 2009 Audi A6 On Audiusa.com. = 33 mpg highway for new Audi A6 3.0 T model

Hey, did any of you see that??? Looking under the specs for the 2009 A6 3.0 T for fuel consumption shows that it can get 33 mpg on highway! Impressive. With combined fuel consumption of 25mpg! I double checked the A8L specs for my car and it says 23-24 mpg highway which is exactly what I am getting on the highway at 80 mph. So this A6 3.0T looks amazing for the power and gas consumption.

Wow! That'll be 22% better than the A4 2.0T!! Hope the B8 S4 is equally impressive.

Default sounds too good to be true

Yes, the EPA does prefer engines that have tall gearing. But 33 sounds like way too much. Something around 27 is more reasonable.

But maybe Audi was able to pull off some Chevy type EPA tricks.

S4 first drives have quoted 17/26 for manual and 17/27 for S-Tronic S4

That sounds a little more inline with Audi's +30% estimate over the outgoing S4.

Default I got 30 mpg going on I35 from Austin to San Antonio and back

on a 2005 A6 3.2 averaging about 71 mph (on the highway only, I reset when off highway to find out the avg. highway speed only).

I also got 30 mpg from Austin to Midland, TX and back, mostly state routes with very little traffic and 60 - 70 mph speed limits.

33 mpg is the same value (7.1L / 100 km) that Audi's German Website states for the 3.0 TFSI engine for highway driving (see link). Sounds completely realistic to me.<ul><li><a href="http://www.audi.de/audi/de/de2/neuwagen/a6/limousine/modellvergleich.html?cat=FuelConsumption&amp;carli neLeft=%2Fetc%2Fvehiclestore%2F50100%2Fa6%2Fa6limo &amp;modelLeft=4f208c_0&amp;carlineRight=%2Fetc%2F vehiclestore%2F50100%2Fa6%2Fa6

hi,

I do not think that is possibble or this is a Miracle !!!

Look at that link, it is a comparaison between a A4 3.2 (quattro tip.) and A6 3.0T quattro tip.) on the german website. The number show a small advantage to the A4 still!!! If you correlate that with the MPG you will see that is it unconsistent as the A4 is 27mpg. folowing the same logic the A4 should be 34mpg.<ul><li><a href="http://www.audi.de/audi/de/de2/neuwagen/a6/limousine/modellvergleich.html?allCategories=1&amp;cat=Price &amp;cat=Motorization&amp;cat=DrvPerformance&amp;c at=FuelConsumption&amp;cat=PowerTransmission&amp;c at=Steering&amp;cat=Weight&amp

Default Doesn't change the fact that I managed to ...

get 30+ mpg on long highway trips several times. Used trip computer and confirmed with Excel spreadsheet.

I don't know how the EPA tests, these were real world numbers.

I've been logging ~24 in the city and regularly see 32+ mmpg with my 3.2 A6 05 quattro. Really amazes me for a heavy car.
