Hi - I wanted to see if anyone had thoughts on this. Is it too late in the C6 life cycle, or is the car still good enough that you would be satisfied for 3 years?
Due to a lease ending (BMW), I can't wait for the 2012 A6. Choices include the (usual) 535, Infiniti M37, E350 and A6. Too many issues with the new 535, especially the Run Flat Low Profile tires.
Despite its age, the A6 still looks surprisingly nice - the mid-cycle refresh did wonders. The lease residual is poor (48%, I think), but the MF is very low (.00011) and you can get them around invoice.
I know others have gone through the same thought process, but it would be interesting to hear any recent feedback or experiences.
Thanks -

The way I look at it, a last year German car is the most relaible, they have already worked out most of the bug. I would never buy a 1st year German car, you are just asking for trouble. I was in the same boat as you, wait or the 2012 A6 or buy the 2011. The 2011 A6 is pretty nice as it is, but I have seen the new A6 and the new interior is much nicer. The big question is do you want to take a chance in a German 1st year production or can you wait 2 or 3 years until Audi work out all the bugs.

i was in the same boat there. I just got 2011 A6 a few weeks ago. I really wanted to have some of those new features in new model but i think the current model is reliable and have just about the same engine etc.

Thanks for the feedback. May I ask which model you acquired (Prem+, Prestige?) and which vehicle you were coming from? I had a 2005 A6, which was the first year for the C6 model. It was OK, but the 2008 BMW 535 was an overall better experience. Presumably Audi has much improved the A6 in the past 6 years.

I got the prestige and my last car was 2008 A6, felt in love with the 3.0T engine. Test drove the 2011 535xi which cost almost $10K more and it didnt handle as well as your 2008 535. Also test drove the E350 which was pretty boring to drive. The 2011 A6 is not going to handle like your 2008 535i, but it has a better ride. The interior is pretty much the same as the 2005 A6 with some minor changes. The suspension have been re-tune since 05 as well as some minor exterior changes.

I might add, prior to getting my A6, I put my '03 530i in the shop and drove a 2011 535 loaner with about 400 miles on it for a week...it was nice, but I'll agree the Audis handle significantly better.
