3.2 / 4.2 FSI valve deposits in these engines?

I was reading something on the RS4 board the other day about the valve deposit problems from oil mist in the intakes / intake valve areas of alot of VAG FSI engines (A4s, R8s, RS4s, etc), and that Audi techs are starting to see it on the new (2007 or so on) FSI 4.2 v8 engines. Looks like the problem stems from the fact that fuel never hits the back of the valves and thus, oil mist builds up in that area into a sticky and then hard substance.
What surprised me is that its happening to engines that are well maintained, some with less than 5K miles on them ! The RS4, as its very hi-performance, seems to have the biggest issue right now.
I have an 05 A6 3.2 FSI... i read about the 4.2's and other engines... has anyone had a 3.2 V6 FSI apart and seen this on their A6?
Thanks, Ben

I've been keeping an eye on those threads too. I don't think there have been too many reports of rough idles and stalls on the C6, which are the usual symptoms. I did order myself that FSI-specific additive, just because I'm at 82,000 miles and it seems reasonable.
It does make me quite nervous about my future S5 though.

It's from Audi/VW (aka VAG):

I have a 2008 A6 3.2, I have rough idle on cold starts and it would smooth out after the rpm drop below 1000. The CEL went on and off 5 times the last month. I wonder if I have this deposite problem.

ask the dealer to pull a manifold...only way to be sure. would probably start with swapping coilpacks first though...any vag-com scans done?

I am waiting for my CEL to come back on and I will call the dealer for an appointment. Last time I was there, the CEL went off the night before my appointment, the dealer wont do anything unless the CEL is on. So far everytime I can a rough idle at cold start, I can pump the gas once and the idle smooths out, does that sound like a vaccum leak?
