The Jaguar just got totalled and it's time for a replacement.
Anyone care to comment on these cars in comparison to the A6? Still have to find time to drive them all. Not looking for anything sporty, just the most comfortable of the bunch.

Can't beat A6 for comfort.
The car feels relaxed and gives you confident at 90+mph. The V6 has a lot of top end grunt and can go easily over 100mph if you step on it.
Don't buy MB. The reliability is a joke these days. I'm speaking from personal experience. My 2008 E350 4Matic has been in the shop 3 times already with 1 incident requiring flat bed towing. Can't wait to get rid of that POS.
You won't like the 328 if you are after comfort. It's catered for the sporty market.

528xi is a good car, but slow....get the 535xi.
the comfort seats are awesome. great build, quiet, and has better residuals.
i'm biased.
the car will drink as much gas as the 535...you might as well get the hp. make sure to drive both. you won't want the 528 after drivign the 535.
xdrive works great in snow, btw.

The 535xi engine is second to none. Before I bought another A6 I test drove the 535xi and was blown away by the performance and overall quality of the car. I was never a fan of BMW, but that car changed my mind. However, 2 issues with it kept me with Audi
1) Pricing and option list. Once I equiped the car the way I wanted it was well over $65K. Audi was at $60K. Plus since the option list was so long finding the car I wanted was impossible
2) Dealers didn't want to deal on price or even look for a car beyond their lots. We went to 2 dealers and both had no desire to call around to find a car or order one

I'd be inclined to try Audi again, but the dealers blow in a 100mi radius.
BMW has been excellent.
With gas prices as high as they are, i'm not driving 100 miles for service.
