Is the 4.2 in the A6 run off of timing chains like the B6/B7 S4?

Is the 4.2 in the A6 run off of timing chains like the B6/B7 S4?
Just wondering if anyone had any insight into this. I currently have a B6 S4 and am thinking of moving into a 2007 A6 4.2, just wondering if the car has the same "chain" noise as the B6/B7 S4's do. Thanks
