Default A6 20" wheel advice.

hi all..

have bought a A6 C6 2.0tdi s-line and ive started looking around for a set of 20s but ive no idea about widths et etc. want a slight bit of poke with a small stretch on the tyre to keep it under the arch. been thinking oem S8 9 spoke rims but think these came in 8.5s and 9s.

could anybody with 20s please stick a photo up with a spec of what they got.. width/et/tyre sizes.

..many thanks in advance.

david.

Hey David, I also just got me an A6 Avant and I'm looking for some 20" Wheels as well. The one's I'm looking at are MRR HR3 the rim size is 20x9.5 and in the post that I saw them in they said the tire size was 255/35/20. let me know what you think...

Here's mine, 20x9 ET 45 with 265/30 Michelin Pilot Sport. My car has H&R coilovers and sits about as low as you can go without having to worry about where you're driving. At my ride height you CANNOT run a 20x9 ET 35 with a 265 tire... MAYBE with a 245 but it would be extremely close. Mine rubs the fender liner in the back when loaded but only enough to rub the fur off the liner. I haven't trimmed or rolled anything. If you run a 20x8 or 8.5 you will have a lot more clearance with a 265. If you want to run a 9.5 you'll be pushing it. If the car not lowered you could run a 265 with a 40 (45 maybe) offset but 35 will stick out badly, I'd look for 50 or higher offset but then your running the risk of touching the suspension. I did a lot of measurement and calculation before putting these on.

Hey Nedrager... do u ever rub in the front??

ALSO .. let me pick your brain for a bit...IF your wheels were ET 39 .. what would u do to make them fit better?

to add in an additional 6mm...would u

go 255 30 20?
raise the coil overs?
dial in some negative camber?
trim the liner?
roll the fenders?

the reason why I ask i am trying to figure out a fitment of a pair of wheels

With ET 39 you will have to run a 255 or 245 because 265 will be into the fender. It does occasionally touch in the front if I'm turning hard and hit a dip. But I try to avoid that, or slow down a bit. You could raise it a bit too. Mine is a little negative now. If you run this low you have to clock the bushings up or risk destroying them, basically loosen the front upper bushings and compress the front end to the new ride height then re tighten. In the back it can't be rolled, there's nothing to roll... trimming the liner only gains you a couple millimeters. Better to run it higher.

was thinking a 225/30/20 on a 9 so clearance shouldnt b a problem with the right set up. run a 215/35/16 on a 9 at the moment on the golf but they only 16s. sits low tho.

nedrager. from the side its what im after.. looks soooo good in the bottom photo! would just like the rim to sit outside the arch abit if possible.

thanks for the info.. just what im after.. anymore people???

out of the question! lol. on 18s standard and i know if i go 19s im still gonna want 20s with the car being the size it is.

not sure how different A4 and A6 arches are with regards to how the wheels will sit. nobodys really running C6s in the uk.. all about the a4s over here!

heres a photo of my mates old A4 s-line 20v running 20x8.5s.. he cant remember the et but had 15mm spacers on the rear. the car is static on coilovers so no air-ride & no scrubbing. if only he still had them id go give them a try.

wanna get mine sitting like this..
