Default A6 C6 MMI High update question....

Hi. I'm thinking of updating my MMI on my A6 but i'm not sure how to interpret the software version i currently have. Details are as follows:
SW: C6-HU 6350 12.0.0.0 0513
HW: C6-HU 6351D2.0
FC SW: 05035AFC6AB320050
FC PS: 0050 FC HW: H03

Can anyone tell me if i can update the FW using the CDs from Audi and if so, is there anything i should be aware of? I've read up on quite a few forums regarding the MMI update and feel confident i can do this but thought i should just check with the masses to get some input. Thanks in advance.

The lines you listed appears to ID MMI SW Version 6350. What year is your A6? If you have a '05 or '06, you would potentially have an old MMI SW version. If you have a newer A6, then you should have an updated version. There is another method to confirm which software version you have, and I can post those directions if needed. But first, ID the model year you have, and you may not need to do anything.

My a6 is a 55 plate 2.7 s line. Any info u could provide would be appreciated! Quick question: does the sline badge make my car an s6 as i was a bit confused about the s6/rs6?? cheers.

If you have a 2.7L bi–turbo V6 S–Line, then your A6 would be a MY 2004, which is a C5 platform, not a C6. The S–Line is only a trim level, not a S6 or RS6, which would have a high output 4.2L V8 or 5.2L V10. IIRC, the 2004 A6 S–Line increased the 2.7L bi–turbo V6 from 255 hp to 265 hp, at least here in North America/US. I don't know what "55 plate" means. Where are you located?

Sorry i thought u were in the UK. A 55 plate is a late 2005 model on the c6 platform. Its the 2.7l v6 diesel engine if that helps.

Understand. Only wish that Audi of America (A of A) would have imported diesel engines for the C6s (we only got the 3.2L FSI V6 or the 4.2L V8 gas engines). Since you have an European C6 A6, I don't what the current MMI version is for your car. I updated the MMI software on my 2006 A6 Avant to Version 4140, which is one or two versions below the current MMI software in 2009, and its been working flawlessly. BTW, I'm located in Western Washington, near Tacoma, WA.

I've travelled quite a lot to the states and it always surprises me that the petrol stations either hide the diesel pumps or just don't sell diesel. Must be difficult for diesel owners. Diesel used to be cheaper that petrol in the UK but now its much more expensive which can make the benefits of diesel ownership less attractive.

Getting back to the mmi system, do you know how to interpret the system info i provided to work out the software version as i have the 3 cd's from audi to update it but wanted to confirm what i have currently? Cheers.

MMI software versions differ depending on the geographic version of the software. You will get UK centric advice from either http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/f...orum-2005-2010 or http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/261-a6-...um-c6-chassis/
