Will do if I ever get it back . Still in the shop. They also had to change the fuel pump and 2nd time fixing the rear cam seal leak. Last time was at around 42,000 now at 82,000 or so.

so I just got the adaptive headlight error on my dash tonight driving home from work I have an 05 a6. I checked out the headlights while on and the passenger side is pointing down, so assuming this means the leveling motor went bad..?????? when you guys had this issue did you look at the light and see it wasnt leveling?

You should scan to check which DTC was triggered. It may be nothing more than a software update. On my '06 A6 Avant, I had adaptive headlight error that was related to a specific module that would need replacement or a software update. I cleared the DTC, and it hasn't come back. But since you have a '05, you may have a defective module that would need to be updated.

A scan will tell you more and which headlight, but when you turn on the headlights a check is run. The lights will move down and then up. If they both do this, then the issue is with the turning motors and not the leveling motors. Either the motor or the control module is bad.

Headlight part numbers are:
4F0941029EK Left Side
4F0941030EK Right Side

In my case after scanning using VAS, It was Left Headlight AFS Motor, which is short circuit and this motor can't be changed and u need to change the hole housing unit.

There is a way to open the headlight but it includes cutting the plastic housing to replace the wires, or u can find a good priced housing at eBay....

Both better than paying 900 ~ 1200$ for the housing from the dealer....
