Default Advanced Key - Intermittent Problem

New A6 4.2 S-line here...
Have advanced key--it unlocks doors/truck fine but the 'start' button only works about 1/3rd of the time. Any thoughts? Similar experiences? (The dealer demo was doing the same thing.) Yes, I'm pressing the brake when attempting to start.
thx!

Default This normally works...

Press and hold the stop button for 5 seconds. Then press and hold the start button for 5 seconds twice. If that works, you have a stuck MMI button.

No problems with "start" but on "stop", the steering wheel only retracts about 50% of the time.

Ditto on the cause. Check for stuck/sticky buttons.

Default No. It can be any of the MMI buttons. Typically happens after the car

has been cleaned by someone who doesn't know what they're doing. A towel microwaved in purified, distilled water, placed over the MMI console (with the car off) tends to work. DO NOT do anything with the car if the MMI is wet!!!

If you just bought it, let the dealer figure it out.

In my case, it was the previous track button to the left of return.
