Default Is anyone up on what tech Audi is using?

if it's a 128 bit key that'd be great. The other thing could depend a bit on how the challenge/response system works... as the theif needs something to work with unless he's going with a more brute-force approach which of course takes more time.

I do agree that its a kink in the armor, the question is is the theft worth the investment in the equipment required to do it. Then again a person could sniff the air ie lets say they have a special scanner, then approach you while your in the car for directions and then get your id.

HOWEVER MY BIGGER CONCERN WAS PLACING THIS KEY THAT CONTINOUSLY EMITTS RF ENERGY IN MY POCKET. I MAY BE SILLY BUT NOT GOING TO RISK THE FAMILY JEWELS. nO EVIDENCE EITHER WAY THAT IT IS OR ISNT HARMFUL. nOT TAKING A CHANCE. bY THE WAY I ALSO WOULD NEVER WEAR MY CELL PHONE ON MY HIP FOR THE SAME REASON.

You're exposed to more RF radiation sitting in front of your comp + monitor than your key...

I didn't see any numbers from audi, so i couldn't tell you. It's not only radiation energy but it's also the band it operates in. Plus the key lays right on top of you.

I could be wrong, but didn't feel the benefits out stacked the negatives, that is all

Default LOL-You're probably exposed to more radiation from all the appliances in your home or office.

To my knowledge, nobody's died of radiation poisoning from the radium dials on watches:-)

Default I take it back...

you're exposed to more RF radiation sitting in your car than from your key. Hence, all the required RF shielding of electrical components...

Default In fact, the front of the CRT-type monitors are very safe. It is

the back of the monitors that emit all the harmful radiations.
