Default After owning an A6 for one week - some questions

1. I have advanced key and before I can push the start button, I always have to press the stop button for about 1 second. Without that procedure, the start button won't do anything. Does anyone else have this issue?
2. When I move the wing mirror selector to the right or left mirror and move the shift to Reverse, the respective mirror will automatically change and point to the floor near the wheel at the back. Is this on purpose? It may be useful if you back up and you would like to know if there are any objects behind or beside your backwheel.

Default Answer to #2.

Yes, this is a design feature to assist you in parking in tight quarters. If you don't want the mirrors to do this, place the selector in the neutral center position.

Default Someone else tried using the key to manually lock then unlock his door and that reset his system.

I've not personally had the problem you describe, but are you pressing the center of the start button? I've pressed mine from the edge and the button depresses but doesn't engage the system. The switch requires a firm push in the center to engage.

April is right about the mirror. If you leave it in the right setting the mirror depresses to let you see the curb distance as you backup. It won't recenter until you're moving forward past nine mph. If you don't recenter the ****, your mirrors won't self demist, so best leave it there until you need the backup view.

Default This means that one of your MMI buttons is stuck. Safety precaution.

Once it's unstuck you won't need to press stop first.

I presume this is your first Audi (congratulations). Audi puts numerous little touches into their cars. Some are obvious. Some are not. Some are in the manual. Some are not. Some things you couldn't describe in the manual anyhow...like the fact that rear seat passengers can turn on their reading lamps without the driver seeing the direct light in his rear-view mirror.

Some people understand all the little details that go into making an Audi special. Others get too tied up in raw horsepower and gadgetry. Yeah, we got horsepower and torque, but if that's why you bought an Audi, you're like a 4-year old at a 5-star restaurant. Hopefully you're the former and you also can take a little bit of flak.

I always tell people that owning an Audi is like joining a somewhat exclusive, somewhat eclectic community. AudiWorld, for me, has been a good representative of that community's robustness.

Welcome aboard, gizo!

"...you're like a 4-year old at a 5-star restaurant...". Hey! I resemble that remark.

Default Re: After owning an A6 for one week - some questions

I have also had mine for one week today. I finally figured out the mirror issue. On the allroad I traded, and on my wife's Touareg, the mirror goes back to normal position as soon as you shift out of reverse. On the new A6, you have to be going 9 - 10 mph. This makes a lot of sense when you think about tight low-speed maneuvering.

I have the exact same symptom re advanced key. I too must press my "stop" button for a second before the "start" button will function. I cannot identify any other stuck MMI button. Could somebody please help?
