Default i would have just disabled the TPMS. Not worth 1500.

i didn't even put in the TPMs on my summer wheels, waste of money.

Default I wasn't given any options,I thought this was warranty work

When I dropped my car off this was supposed to be a warranty issue cover by their 12 month parts warranty. I get the call 2 days later after the work was done, telling me what the cause was and how much I now owe.

i would not pay. You have to be notified first if there is going to be a charge.

Default Who sold and installed the aftermarket system?

First off, why did you authorize so much time at the audi dealership? They just went ahead and racked up that much time without letting you know? I would have issue with that.

If you installed it, it's tough to put the liability on the manufacturer, as I'm sure they were not aware of the application. You can still try but it will be difficult to recover from them unless they listed your car specifically as an application. If you paid an installer, you have more recourse.

What state are you in?

Default In that case, don't pay, and call Audi of America....

That's ridiculous. Did you sign anything when you dropped the car off saying you authorize them to do work at their hourly rate? Did whatever you sign say that they must get authorization for amounts exceeding x $?

Is the car in your possession now or still at the dealership?

Have you paid?

Default It was installed by a friend of mine (private party not a shop)

It is a subwoofer and amp added to my factory Bose system.

I never authorized anything more than warranty work. I got a voicemail the next day informing me that the sensors were changed and that the problem still exists, still no mention that I would have to pay anything. I get the call 2 days later after the work was done, telling me what they feel caused the problem and I owe them 11 hours labor.

I'm in Staten Island,NY.

Default I'd look for a banker...

The EMI issue is a real pain. Many of the engineers at my company wrestle with it on a daily basis in their designs. I can't imagine an auto mechanic going into a diagnosis having any iota of a clue that EMI from an after market gizmo is at play. 20/20 hindsight says to simply unplug the amp and the problem is diagnosed. Bummer of a situation.

Don't get pissed, get it behind you. Pay the bill now and forget it. Chalk it up to experience. If you drag it into court, you will pay the bill plus legal fees.

Just my opinion.

[If we ignore the lawyers, maybe they will go away!]

Regards,
John
