Hi, ive got the same problem here in australia with my A6. I have sourced the pump valve unit for a third of the price in the US but before i buy, would someone know if it matters whether the vehicle is right hand of left hand drive ?

I had this issue once with my A6 and all I did was turn on the head full blast for 1 minute the switch it back to AC and all vents blew cold air.

I'm also Australia and my A6 experiences the same problem. Can you tell me where you source the pump valve and whether the problem is fixed now. Thank you.

Almost to the penny what it cost me down in Charleston, SC last year. McDaniels Audi in Charleston was very professional. I have not had the problem since.

Default Free DIY repair solution

Justt found an excellent post on how to DIY repair the problem in another thread.

https://www.audiworld.com/forums/sho...9&postcount=40

I'm going to try it this weekend and reporr after a month or so.

Definetely worth a try! Potentially saves me $300 (after market part from USA) or $800 (genuine from Audi Australia).

Just an update. I did this last night, following the step-by-step direction. It took about half an hour, relatively simple. I used Brasso to clean the plungers and solenoid housings. There were plenty of 'dirt cake' build up, and some has to be removed using small flat screwdriver (carefully).

I drove the car all day today. And there is no more sign of the problem. So I think it's successful!

Another update after 6 months

The problem came again. So it appears to be only a temporary fix. I will repeat the procedure again.

The only permanent fix is to follow the TSB.
