Hey guys,

I started my car tonight and my airbag warning light stayed on. Do any of you know the magnitude of this repair (cost/time)? I've owned my 2005 3.2 for about 3 months now, I have a 3rd party warranty so I will most likely be coming out of pocket. Thanks for any help on this one!

I can't give you a price, but it has happened to me several times. It is typically one of the air bag sensors in the rear seat.

vag com it to see which air bag it is,there is a tsb out on the air bags,for the font and sides,

this happened to me.
after reading about repeated issues from owners i was ready to bring it to the dealer.
and when my wife innocently said "what did u do to the door to make the light come on".
it got me thinking...
i had forgot that i was replacing the rear door ashtray THAT same day light appeared.
i knowingly left an open connection on the ashtray (the bottom has a plug for a mini light)... i was annoyed that it was broke and i removed the whole assembly to motivate me to get the replacement.

after a few days i plugged the replacement assembly in and ran VCDS scan, saved it and the cleared the DTCs.

ran the scan again and cleared DTCs ( accidental 2nd scan ...still a rookie w VCDS )

at the next restart the light was gone and has not returned
it is going on 2 weeks now.

im not certain if it was the ashtray plug or just me sitting on the edge of the rear seat affecting the sensor

i hear about people having repeated issues with this
im not saying everyone had my issue but
i can only imagine how many people would have avoided the dealer if they would have cleared their own DTCs first

my car is far from having gremlins but it can have quirks but i still lover her so
