Alternate way to turn on the stereo
ok, after driving the car for several days with the stereo off (trying to hear and identify noises), I noticed that the radio used to turn on automatically. Initially, I took it as a joke - like the car was getting bored, so decided to turn on the music.
However, I just realized that you can turn on the radio just by slightly moving the volume control on the steering wheel.
- Basically, press on the volume **** to turn off the stereo
- turn the volume **** on the steering wheel.
- stereo turns on.
Just wanted to share this.

Think all you may of done is actually muted the radio by pressing the volume **** and then unmuted it by moving the volume control.
Certainly on my MY10 A6 if the radio (and thus the rest of the MMI) is fully turned off (the screen then displaying the Audi Multimedia Interface logo) the steering wheel volume control does nothing. If the radio is just muted then it behaves as you describe.
