Annoying rattle from cargo divider on avant
Has anyone got an irritating metallic rattle from the rear cargo divider and found a solution? I am changing the car soon but it is really annoying.

Yep, remove the Dog Net ... I did and no more rattle
At first, I thought it was the cargo system (really), but no.
The dog net in between the backseat and trunk caused the rattle in mine. It took me some time to realize it. I just removed it, because I have no dog and the rattle is gone.
The problem is that with the dog net installed, the back seats don't lock very well, or don't lock at all. This is a design flaw.

Re: Many thanks for the reply...it is the dog net....phew.
Glad to help.
Was that the reason you were thinking of replacing the A6 Avant with the Q7 ? Or did you just want a 7-passenger vehicle?

A bit of both...
Our family is soon to expand to 4 kids, and I needed to make a quick decision. The rattle was annoying and the S-Line version I have is good for fast bends but rubbish for poor quality surfaces (i.e. most of Ireland where I travel a lot). I needed to take the depreciation hit before it got worse (took 15% in 6 months...ouch). I love the car and the spec I chose, but the Q7 has air suspension as well as all the extras.
The A6 is still great, but I wonder if it is not really holding its value too well here in the UK.

Hmm .. I could see your point to move up to the Q7. With 4 kids, you may need the Q7. The Q7 has a more fluffy ride than the s-line sports suspension of the A6, so it is better for the kind of road you mentioned. On the other hand, it's a huge vehicle (hard to park, more fuel consumption) and not as good as the A6 Avant when driving twisty and curvy roads. But come to think of it, 4 small kids could still fit the back. Tough choice. If there are not too many Q7s there, the Q7 may hold its value too. Here in the US, I suspect the Q7 will loss more value than the A6 Avant.

at the end of the day comfort is king...
We drive regularly across Ireland and you would think I was making it up if I told you how bad the roads are. Think 1920s engineering with 2006 traffic levels, whith road death stats. to match. I have to trade up because the EU has imposed strict rules on car seats for kids so the A6 won't do. My wife will end up using it for work and cars get treated like bumper cars here, so all the scrapes would break my heart. I'll miss a car though but I am forced to move to the truck (and then the environmentalists will complain, but what can you do).
