A few weeks ago I wrote about Craig at Miramar VW / Audi ( www.genuineaudiparts.com ) and his willingness to test an XM radio module in a 2007 A6, a car for which Audi says XM is unsupported. My hope was to extrapolate this to an installation in my 2007 S6.

Craig advised no problems with his installation so I bit the bullet and ordered an XM module from Craig. The XM radio installation went smoothly and all seems to be working well with one exception. Every time I attempt to change a channel, I receive an error message: "ANTENNA A technical problem occurred. Contact your Audi dealer for support." (See attached photos.) However, after a few seconds, the error message disappears and the station comes in.
There are two antenna inputs on the XM module (one green and one brown) but only one on Sirius (green), so I tried swapping from the green XM antenna to the brown XM antenna. The error message went away - but XM ceased to function.
I phoned Craig at Miramar VW / Audi but he was on vacation. Bill took a message - and then phoned me back twice more to lend his assistance. Bill was very helpful and relayed messages to/from the tech who tested XM in their A6 but he could not resolve the problem.
Has anyone seen this problem before? Any thoughts on how to correct? The XM radio works fine - but it's an annoying screen to have to view every time a channel is changed.
Thanks in advance.
Bob
By the way, XM offered three months free just for the asking. After I complained about the message screen, I was transferred to a tech support person who tired to resolve the screen problem. He offered a credit for two months @ $12.95/month for my difficulty. When he could not resolve the problem, I suggested I might go back to Sirius and he responded by offering 12 additional months for $77.00. So I got 15 months of service for a net $51.10 or about $3.41/month. Despite the annoying screen, I will keep the XM. No more dropouts like Sirius and a great deal on the service.

I have xm in my 2007 s6 and it works fine - Southgate Audi in Edmonton Canada installed it as a factory ordered part - no error messages. rarely the station list takes a while to populate when I start the car - otherwise no issues
