I'm anxiously awaiting the full redesign of A6 that will follow the lines of new A8 and A5.

Does anyone have any news when this might happen? I kept waiting on it but it never seemed to happen. All other models got a redesign and now officially A6 looks a bit outdated.

Just to be clear...we're talking about a 'new' design of the A6 will be coming out MidYear of the calendar year 2012? (not the 'car year, right?)

ASF indeed. MY2012 A6= 2011 calendar year. Just as the new A8 will debut later this year as a MY2011.

if i placed an order for an European Delivery A6 right now and was told that it would be available for delivery in 'late summer' would i end up with a C6 or C7?
I've talked with two different dealers and they haven't been real clear...they said it would be a 2011 but one said it would be a C6 and the other implied it would be a C7...was never really clear.

It would be a C6. As discussed above, the debut of the C7 will be for MY 2012.
