A sunroof allows you to slide back part of the roof and expose yourself to the open sky. When slid back, you can put your hand (or head or other body part) through the roof of the car.
A moonroof has two parts to slide back. The first exposes a, usually tinted, glass subplatform in the roof. Through this, the open sky is visible. The subplatform can also be slid back, tilted and/or opened. When both are pushed back, you can literally put your hand through the roof of the car.

Metal sunroof is, well metal, and tilt and slides.
Glass sunroof is exactly the same, but because it's glass (usually tinted), it also has a blind that slides across to block the sun.
I've never understood why you guys call them "moonroof"...what's it got to do with the moon???

If it opened, then it was a "sunroof". It would be metal (rare) or glass (the usual). My old MX-6 had a metal sunroof, and I always wanted a moonroof instead (as I rarely open it, but like the enhanced lighting). Now I've got both!
