I say "Welcome, Copycats!"

No matter what these other manufacturers do, people will ALWAYS remember, Audi was THE one that came up with the innovative LED headlight design.

"Look! LED headlights! is that an Audi? oh... nevermind"

Wow, and to me the Benz applications look like MBZ felt they had to use LEDs somehow but weren't quite sure how, or where. Unfortunately the new Q7, festooned as it is with all those LEDs, is stretching the limit of good taste. Just my opinion s'all.

I agree, the Q7's LED is a bit too much. I guess Audi design so many LED DRL, there is bound to be one design that fails.

+1...it should either swoop over the light or under, but not both.

Sort of reminds me of the new range rover (another LED example). Just looks confusing.

Actually that is not entirely true I am afraid! I think the first LEDs were used on Rolls Royce phantom and Aston Martin Vantage. I am not 100% sure tho.

According to this article, the A8 W12 was the 1st production car to introduce LED DRL in 2003:

"The 12-cylinder Audi A8 went into series production soon afterwards as the world's first vehicle with LED daytime running lights."

I saw that too. Didn't know it even had DRL's. Is this info correct? I thought the R8 was the first.

Imatation is best for of flattery or something like that... lead, follow or get the F*** back in the right lane! I guess if you're going to follow then follow a VW or Audi.
